If I might make a suggestion, since you said you're going to keep it outside.
Assuming it's got a Shimano Nexus hub gear. Some of these develop a problem with water ingress. This can wreck the hub.
You might consider a pair of Clarijs panniers (custom versions available) or similar. The panniers live on the rack and would keep the weather off your hub.
Also, I recommend you consider this: http://www.hubstripping.com/shimano-alfine/shimano-nexus-internal-gear-hub-maintenance.jpg
@amoeba Thanks for advice. The rear wheel is fitted with skirtguards which protect the hub well enough i would say. I am thinking about getting paniers though anyway... although it's a little bit of an overkill on a cargobike.
Being brand new I would have thought your Nexus hub is the latest model, so I'd not lose too much sleep worrying about water ingress. That was a problem with the first models but the design has evolved alot since then.
Beautiful!
ReplyDeleteGreat stuff!

ndru,
ReplyDeleteThe seal where the water ingress is supposed to occur is behind the rear sprocket and is not protected by the chain-case or skirt-guards.
Happy New Year!

ReplyDeleteThough so - Workcycles are known for only using weatherproof components in their bikes.
ReplyDeleteThat's an interesting set of pics. I picked my Bak up at the 'other' shop in the centre so I didn't get to see this one.
